life via s5 snapshots

Despite the southern summer heat, we have been able to have many adventures this month. Most adventures, particularly walking adventures, have taken place late in the evening. As July comes to an end and August brings hotter days ahead, I suspect we will have spend another month of evening adventuring. I welcome you with open arms August, for I know you will bring me closer to fall. I long for crisp weather and apple cider.

Sunday Sounds.

Sunday Sounds: Regina Spektor edition.

Us

My interpretation is that it is a catchy song about unrequited love. [you don't know but that's okay.....don't you know that I belong arm in arm with you baby]. It is sweet and simple.

Samson

The song is pretty self explanatory. It hits you, it makes you think, it makes you thankful.

Wish I Was Here

Do you know what is better than having a true passion for something? Having a friend who shares that passion. Our passion is the work of Zach Braff. We traveled to Atlanta this past weekend to see his new film, Wish I was Here. E, being the supportive spouse that he is, joined us on our journey.

[E took our pic..and told us how silly he felt taking a picture of us in front of a movie poster]
[I took this one of Josh inside the theater]

The movie was everything that I had hoped it would be. Josh (tall guy in yellow/fellow Braff fan) loved it too. I give props to any film that can make me laugh out loud and smile like a teenage girl who just got her first kiss.

Hello again.

Long time no blog. Our computer was out of commission for a week or so (E fixed the problem. yay!) and I got out of the blogging groove. So, let me catch you up.....

What I have been up to lately

1. Reading. E surprised me one day with Mr.Mercedes by Stephen King. (He knew I had been wanting it) I have spent my evenings this past week with my head stuck in this book.

2.Listening to a lot of Sam Smith. (But really, who isn't listening to him this summer?) The first time I heard him was when I was riding in the car with my mom. I just didn't want the song to be over. That voice, le sigh. Fast forward a few weeks to when I was taking an afternoon joyride and I hear that voice again. This time, that voice is covering Whitney Houston's 'How Will I Know'. I've been on a bit of a kick since.

3. Saw Wish I Was Here. I plan on dedicating an entire post to this later in the week. Stay tuned.

4. Wedding things. I'm grateful to have an awesome group of friends/family to help cross things off of my wedding to-do list.

5.Netflix. I got sucked into Once Upon a Time.

6.Family time. This consumes most of my free time, especially on the weekends.

Happy Birthday Emma!

Today my very favorite little person turns three years old. It is hard to imagine what our lives would be like without her. As of right now she is the only grandchild for my mother, the only niece for me and an only child. Needless to say, she is the center of attention and loving every minute of it.

Sunday Sounds

Habits (Stay High)- Tove Lo

Ryan never disappoints. I was lucky enough to see him in concert a few years ago. Hopefully, a new album will mean a tour date near me again!

Riptide- Vance Joy

Another Ryan Adam's song (since I have now officially put myself in a Ryan Adams mood) I think it is the most popular of his songs, so I threw it in the mix today.

Coffee- Sylvan Esso

Adventures

We braved the Georgia heat and went on a walk last week.
Adventures with E are the best.

Let them be little.

Adventures with Emma tend to take longer than necessarily needed. When we are in the store and she wants to spend five extra minutes in the toy section, I let her. When she wants to press the hand dryer button twice in the bathroom, I let her. When it rains and she asks to jump in puddles, most of the time, I let her. I don't want the fact that I go out of my way to let her do these things to be confused with her always getting her way or being a spoiled brat. She is almost three and these things make her day. I believe in letting kids be little. Let them play and get dirty. Embrace that the little things in life are really the big things.

^It rained while we were shopping. Emma wanted to take her shoes off and jump in the rain puddles.
