Adventures.

Earlier this month I entered the last year of my twenties. I got to spend this morning in the woods with the hubby. We drove to FDR state park and spent the morning exploring. 29 is going the best yet, I feel it.

January 19th.

January 19, 2011 Eric asked me to be his girlfriend. January 19, 2014 Eric asked me to marry him. I kinda sorta have a thing for the 19th of January. The past four years have been the best of my life. Something magical happens when you find your soul mate. I am so thankful that I got to marry my best friend. Here's to many years to come!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!!

[birthday gifts from E mixed with wedding keepsakes that he arranged as a surprise for me!]

Inspired by my friend Josh, I've decided to make a playlist for each year.
Since I have a January birthday I kinda just made it a mix for the year.

The goal is to add a song each time I am crazy about it. It doesn't have to be a song that comes out that year but it has to be one that means something to me that year. Here's to another year of Melly music!

2014 Melly Mix
(in no particular order)

Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?- Arctic Monkeys
Chandelier- Sia
Lazaretto- Jack White
Afire Love- Ed Sheeran
Doses and Mimosas- Cherub
The Heart Wants What It Wants- Selena Gomez
Thinking Out Loud- Ed Sheeran
Take Me To Church- Hozier
Til It's Gone- Yelawolf
Top Notch- Manchester Orchestra
Dollhouse- Melanie Martinez
Heavenly Father- Bon Iver
Cecelia & The Satellite- Andrew McMahon.
XO- John Mayer
Stay With Me- Sam Smith
Oceans- Hillsong United
Take Your Time- Sam Hunt
Fancy- Iggly Azalea
People Loving People- Garth Brooks
Blank Space- Taylor Swift
Back To The Shack- Weezer

Every year on my birthday, I start a new playlist titled after my current age so I can keep track of my favorite songs of the year as a sort of musical diary because I am a teenage girl.

Sunday Sounds

Elastic Heart- SIA
No matter the song, SIA will get stuck in your head. I dare you to listen and not find yourself singing it later.

The Party Line- Belle and Sebastian

I can't place my finger on why I really like this song but I do.

This song has recently been released with it featuring Sheryl Crowe. Not that The Sheryl Crowe version was bad, but this version is the winner for me.

Immortal- Fall Out Boy

Sunday Sounds on a Monday

Sunday came and went.
Please forgive me and accept a Monday tune.

ah, Marcy Playground.
Maroon 5 covering Marcy Playground...I can barely handle this!

so...true story.
In 1998 I was a 12 year old free-spirit who loved Marcy Playground and my disco ball. I can remember many nights I would listen to the self titled album with my disco ball spinning away. This is the era where my true love of music really began. I remember spending so many nights with music playing and staring at reflections from the disco ball endlessly spinning. Thank you mom, for the music and for the disco ball.
