Bucket List

After we got married, Eric & I started a bucket list. We have a notebook that we write things in that we want to do and it is our dream to work on our bucket-list over the course of our marriage. We will be adding to the list as time goes by and crossing out what we have accomplished.

As an adult you begin to realize that a new day is not promised to you and that in any given moment it can be taken away. Life is too precious and too short to not enjoy it. Our list contains dreams both big and small. Each year our goal is to cross off at least one thing on the list. As of right now, we are set up to cross off two things this year. The first will be going to see Ed Sheeran in concert this fall. The second is still a work in progress and I promise to share more on that later.

Mary Jane's Last Dance- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Tom Petty makes my soul happy. This one makes it in my top 5 Tom Petty songs.I remember the days when I was young and naive-only thinking this was a sort of love song to a girl named Mary Jane.

Wish You Were Here- Incubus

I went through a brief, obsessive phase with Incubus as a teenager. Brandon Boyd still gives me the feels.

Eric & I are happy to share the excitement of seeing you graduate and we are proud of you. You are talented, smart, and have a beautiful soul. We love you and know that you are going to rock at whatever you decide to do in the future. Always believe in yourself and know that you can do anything that you want to.

Photo adventure

Earlier this week we drove out to the rail-yard (is that what it is called?) for a photo adventure. The setting itself was pretty magical but I wasn't really feeling it that day. I took a few pics but wasn't in the full mood for a photo adventure. I think the combination of feeling exhausted and the humid, summer heat that Georgia has to offer got the best of me. We also ventured out a tad too early and I was wearing blue jeans and got really hot and never was able to cool off. mood killer. I did enjoy walking around and taking in the scenery.

Life is Strange

Episode 3 of Life is Strange is out today!

It is my favorite game in a long time. [it is a choice and consequence game that you can rewind time to affect the past/present] If you don't hear from me today...know that I am alive... just playing a game.

Slide the City: Columbus, Ga

Slide the City is a pretty cool concept- A 1,000 foot water slip n' slide made on a street in the city. You can pay to slide once, pay more to slide three times or buy an all day pass to slide as many times as you want. I did find out that they work with the city to find the best location for this slide- for both sliding down the hill and water flow for this. Again, this is a cool concept but it went down as an epic fail for Slide the City and Columbus, Ga.

Several weeks ago my friend Brandi and I decided to volunteer this event. We had on and off discussed getting involved in things and volunteering. Both of us decided this would be a good place to start. We were so very wrong. Our scheduled volunteer shift was 2pm-7pm. Once all of the volunteers for our shift arrived, we had a very brief pow-wow and were taken to our spot. We were excited and thought that we had scored the best possible volunteer spot of the day- the bottom of the slide. Our job was to slow down sliders and to keep them out of the bottom of the slide (which EVERYONE wanted to go in] because it had a water pump that filtered the water and pumped it back up to the top of the slide.

[This was before the madness ensued]

I should mention that the event began earlier that day and up until around 2:45 or 3 the water pressure was not enough to actually slide down the slide because there was not water down the entire slide. I am sure you can imagine that the people who paid for this experience were upset. Also, all day only two of the three lanes were open for sliding. The wait time for the slide was extra long due to the combination of one lane being closed and the inability to actually 'slide the city'. After the water pressure picked up people were actually able to slide down. The problem here is that it was just two girls against the city of Columbus. Most people did actually listen and slow down/stop before hitting the end with the water pump. We managed to grab many of those who didn't slow down before they hit the end- grabbing their tubes/legs/hands/whatever we could grab to make them stop. If this were a sports event- we would be the goalies. The next problem was having that group of a**holes who didn't listen. The ones who purposely slide in the end or go in there anyway after we had stopped them. I was knocked down a few times, but poor Brandi was completely wiped out by people several times. Frustration was building. Not to mention the super creepy old man who had a child's pool noodle/water gun squirting young, attractive women with water. [and who had been asked/told to stop many, many times] Even after being told to stop he remained at the bottom of the slide, sitting on the side-creeping away. Brandi even went so far as to tell one of the people 'in charge' and they did nothing.

We became fed up with the few people that simply would not listen and the lack of help/assistance from the coordinators and decided to leave around 5pm. Feeling that we were doing the right the thing, we went out of our way to find one of the people 'in charge' to tell them why we were leaving and that there was now no one working the bottom of the slide. She didn't even care why we had left or even care that we did leave. Then  she had the audacity to ask if we could help clean up and pack up the volunteer tent/supplies. After picking our jaws up off of the floor we just said no and left.

The thing I am going to take away from this is that this is one experience and I refuse to let it ruin my stance on volunteering. You get out of the world what you put in. Don't let a bad experience ruin your good nature.

Sunday Sounds

Oh, Honey- Sugar, You.
A song for anyone who struggles with self confidence and knows the feeling of being uncomfortable in your own skin. It is a song of loving someone who doesn't love themselves. My wish for you all is to love yourself as you are and know that you are capable of love and being loved.

Panic! At The Disco- Hallelujah
I am not ashamed to admit that I love this band and am super stoked for new music. Such an infectious voice- how can you know like them?

Sunday Sounds

With my return to the blog, I decided to continue Sunday Sounds. [with just a few changes] Previously, I always tried to post five songs. This go round I'll just be going with the flow.

Eric & I waited for what seemed like forever for Love Story to be released. This Sunday Sounds is the entire album. It is not often I love every.single.song. on an album but Yelawolf did not disappoint. The obvious favorite [if you know me at all] is Till It's Gone- it is just infectious in the best way. My other favorites are Whiskey In A Bottle, Have A Great Flight, and Best Friend.

Hello!

I'm back!
[I can never stay away from blogging for long]

So, here is a random jumble of what is going on with me lately...

I update the look of the blog a bit. I like it....but I am a tad biased.

The spring is such an inspiring time for me. I thrive on cool summer nights mixed with whatever music I find myself in the mood for at the time. This week I have been listening to a lot of Brand New and Taking Back Sunday. It is oddly comforting to be just as in love with these bands as I was years ago.

I've been missing Tennessee lately.
TN will forever serve as my home away from home.
[November 2014- smokey mountain national park]

In other semi-interesting news, I cleaned up my facebook. I went from 300+ friends down to a solid 186. I choose to hit the unfriend button on people that I do not interact with. It is highly liberating to decide you want to share everything with a select few. [ironic statement seeing as how I have no problem sharing my stories with anyone on this blog]

I started staying up late again and sleeping in [well, sleeping in when I can]. Creativity flows better on the computer more freely at 1am. Long live coffe, youtube, and blogging!

Today's throwback is a favorite of mine. I dug deep into an 'instagram' file on my computer to find these! A day in Atlanta with the bestie. We went to ICE ATL and then on a photo spree.

Sorry- Meg Myers
I am such a fan of this chick. So far, I have loved everything I have heard.

Glass & Patron- FKA twigs

I don't think this song is supposed to be as funny as I find it. "There's that bike that I forgot that I possessed....I think something's tellin me to ride that 2 speed"

Hanson is my lifelong musical love. I am not ashamed to admit that musically, I have loved Hanson the longest. 19 years and counting!

Thursday

Thursday.
  • I walked to work this morning. (It literally takes me six minutes to walk from my apartment to work) Surprisingly, I have lived here over a year and have only walked to work a handful of times. I rather enjoy getting out and am trying to make it a point to take advantage of the nice weather while it lasts.
  • 64 oz of water. I drank this today. I don't even know if this is what is considered the ideal amount of water but I drank it! I happen to love water but have found myself in the routine of grabbing a soda instead. Ah, the uphill struggle in my battle against soda.
  • I jammed out to Alabama Shakes . like hardcore, danced my heart out in the living room all alone jammed out. I can still remember the first time I heard them several years ago. I had to know who it was because it was so different & so rad. So excited for the new album!
  • I ate pizza rolls for dinner. because I am an adult and I can do that.
Sorry for the lack of picture taking today. To be honest, I just wasn't in the mood. I plan on doing better at documenting in the future...

Spring cleaning is happening here at The Anthony house! [even cleaning up my old laptop] We have been on a mission to back up everything... or maybe I should say that Eric is backing up all of my old stuff because he has always kept his backed up ;)  Enjoy the findings!

We lived with my mom at the time- sometimes it feels like we just moved out and sometimes it feels like it was years ago.

[we've always had a thing for silly selfies]

There are tons of pictures in the archive and for the next few months I'll try and share a few each Thursday.

Emma

One of my favorite things about the weekend is spending time with my favorite three year old. Watching Emma grow up has been a joy in my life. She is at such a special age right now; she is so full of love and excitement. As she grows older, I hope she will have fond memories of the fun times she spent with her Aunt Mel and Uncle E. (If you ask her she will tell you that Eric is not her uncle E and that he is her 'booboo') After all, isn't it an Aunts job to spoil her niece?

Emma loves riding with the convertible top down.
I chose this play outfit for Emma. Jokingly, I told her she could be a rep for LisaFrank...but she is three and doesn't know about LisaFrank.

Weekend Adventures.

If I could freeze time here in the south, I would choose to freeze March. It has been so perfect over the past week and we are trying to squeeze in as much time outside as possible.

[Joey loves adventures]
[moss has a majestic beauty about it]
[rarely seen in Georgia, a wild cactus growing]
[I can't get enough of his handsome face]

Joey is recovering from his long winter and easing back into exercising. It didn't take long to wear him out and he was ready to nap. We stopped on the way home and got Joey a hamburger so he is okay with the whole ordeal and now he is well rested and ready for the next trip.

Believe- Mumford & Sons
I love this band and love this refreshing composition.

Run The Jewels- Run The Jewels

Any vocals that can remotely remind me of Ryan Adams is good with me. I'll be the tornado is on my vinyl wishlist.

Millions- Gerard Way

Once upon a time I lived for going to local band shows on the weekend and caught hell for loving NFG. 10 years later and I still don't care-I'll always like em.

inspiration.

Inspiration has a funny way of finding you when you need it most. Over the past few days I have been digging deep into my internet footprints. You know, visiting myspace, old blogs, shutterfly, photobucket, and every other site that I have uploaded a picture on. I am working on saving all the pictures so they don't get forgotten about. On this journey of photo salvaging, I have found inspiration in myself. Yes, me.

I used to go on photo adventures quite frequently. I'd just wander around and look for bits of magic to photograph. Hopefully the weather will corporate with me this weekend and I will be able to get out and aimlessly adventure. I feel like my soul needs it.

I used to dress like this on the regular. I can't remember the last time I wore anything except blue jeans in my day to day life outside of work. I miss this.
Okay...now I know it is hard to get past that phone from sooooo long ago[my prized pink blackberry pearl] but it is laying on a spoon purse. I carried a purse with spoons on it. This serves as inspiration to be more bold.
Man, I miss having a yard. I used to spend a lot more time outside. This was a cardinal that I befriended one summer and named Stanley. He eventually let me get pretty close to him without flying away. I'd visit him the same time each night and each night he'd come sit on the same branch. I think this is the most I've ever bonded with an animal that wasn't a pet. Ever since that summer I have called Cardinals 'Stanleys'. I hope to take my small piece of cement patio at the apartment and turn it into a cozy, charming spot.

My goal for the spring is to stay inspired. I'll share my adventures with you all along the way.

weather.

The weather here has been absolutely perfect the past few days. Living in the south, you learn to take in every moment you can of this not too hot, not too humid weather. Sunday was the first day since E got his new VW Beetle that we could enjoy riding with the top down.

[I forgot a ponytail holder.eek!]

Hopefully mother nature will provide us with a few more alluring days before fading into the humid, southern heat we all know too well.

cupcakes.

Sunday we went to Stevi B's [a pizza buffett] to celebrate Eric's upcoming birthday. I made cupcakes to surprise E with. I got the recipe from my grandmother's cook book. This is the very first time in 29 years that I have made anything from scratch [all by myself.] They weren't up to par with how my grandma used to make them but not horrible for my first time ;) Watch out world, I'm baking now.

Losing My Edge- LCD Soundsystem
Sometimes I get in weird, funky moods and enjoy LCD Soundsystem. This one kills me every time. "I was the first guy playing Daft Punk to the rock kids." - favorite. line. ever.

Running In Circles- POP ETC

This officially has made it to the "riding with the top down" list. Upbeat music and the wind blowing in your hair is the best.

This is my favorite song on the list this week. I have a soft spot for Passion Pit.

The Adventures of Joey.

Our apartment doesn't offer many opportunities for Joey to get out and do his favorite thing-running. We try to let him get out and exercise but he has to be on a leash when we go about and about in town. Thankfully, my mom lives on three acres and he has plenty of room to run when we visit. Thankfully, we have had some nice days and Joey has had a blast.
