Carson's birthday.

Saturday Carson turned five years old.
Emma and I had fun celebrating Carson's fifth birthday at his racing themed party!

 pretzel dipsticks
 donut tires
Lemonade for anti-freeze and Sweet Tea for Oil

I regret not taking a picture of Carson's cake (keeping up with an almost three year old is a task!)
Thankfully, I was able to snag this picture from his mom to share her hard work! (she made his cake!)
^Carson and his proud mama, Brandi.

Happy Birthday, Carson. It has been such a joy to watch you grow up over the past five years into the delightful young man that you are.

Sunday Sounds.

Chandelier- Sia
I have played this SO many times in the past few weeks. I dare anyone to listen/watch this and not burst out in interpretative dance.

Rollin' and Tumblin'- The Gaslight Anthem

Once a Hanson fan, always a Hanson fan.

Beware the Dog- The Griswolds

This is one of my favorite songs. We won't talk about the fact that I still own (and wear) three different Coheed and Cambria shirts I have owned since I was in high school.

10.

10 things you probably didn't know about me:
  • My car's name is Aurora. It is an ode to my favorite composer, Tchaikovsky.
  • I prefer "grey" over "gray".
  • I Google. A LOT. When in doubt, Google it. (unless it is something medical...in which case DO NOT GOOGLE IT...trust me)
  • I can't wait to cut my hair. After my wedding I want to chop! chop! chop it off! I'm sure I will miss it a tad once it is gone.
  • E & I crossed paths years before we started dating. We played games online together.
  • I'm a list person. Groceries, to-do, goals- you name it and I have a list for it
  • The Catcher In The Rye is and will forever be my favorite book.
  • I feel the need to have a back up toothpaste, shampoo and hand soap in the house at all times.
  • I am currently working on my bucket list. (I told you I was a list person) Hopefully, I'll be able to share a few of the things with you as they are crossed off of my list.

Thanks to everyone who takes a few moments out of your day to read my blog.

Baby E.

Shelby and DeWayne had a gender reveal party on Saturday. We had so much fun finding out if Baby E was a girl or boy! (I guessed a girl)

We are all so happy for Shelby and Dewayne. Baby Kason DeWayne Eiland is arriving this December!

Klapp Klapp- Little Dragon

Doses And Mimosas- Cherub
I go through song phases. I get hooked on a song sometimes and play them on repeat for days. Right now, it is the acoustic version of Doses And Mimosas.

Flicker, Fade- Taking Back Sunday

My Shadow Days Are Over- John Mayer
This song is definitely in the running for my favorite John Mayer song.  A song strikes you for what it means to you. For me, it is a bit of a redemption song.

babysitting.

My Saturday consists of babysitting. I have a friend's dog for the weekend and my niece Emma for the day.
We went on an adventure to the splash pad in Columbus today. Emma had a blast.

We stopped on the way home to get a happy meal and now it is time to take a quick nap.
Emma loves being spoiled at Aunt Mel's house.

E.

I found myself a little lonely today. This is pretty unusual for me, I have always enjoyed alone time. I daydream and find myself most productive when left alone. E was sick earlier in the week and is staying late today to make up some hours. Eric is my happiness and it has been a long day without him. To fill my time today, I made a slideshow to surprise E with.

E,
I know you are not a fan of country music but these lyrics are spot on. You are the best part of my day.  I am so happy I get to call you my husband in a few months. You're my best friend. I love you.
Love,
Melly.

I can't wait for you to get home so we can play Mario Kart together.

Mind Over Matter- Young the Giant

Twenty one- Corey Smith
The first time I heard this song I was not even twenty one. Here I am at twenty eight and I am still fond of it. A girl that I vaguely remember introduced me to Corey Smith and I fell in love. (we are talking border line obsessed ya'll) Thankfully, my best friend shared the obsession. It seemed like every few months we were seeing him in concert. (my favorite was in Columbus, Ga- he got drunk and sang Ice, Ice baby)  The last time I saw Corey was bittersweet for me. The Corey that I fell in love with was no more. The Corey I fell in love with played to a small room of a bar on just his acoustic guitar. The Corey I last saw had a full blown band and had changed the tempo of the songs that I loved. While I am happy for his success, it is just not the same.

Anna Sun- Walk The Moon

I think everybody went a little crazy over this song when it was released. Until recently, I had planned on using it as a recessional song at my wedding. It makes me happy. Instead, I am going with the song that has been in the back of my head since the moment I met E.

Lights Out- Ingrid Michaelson
