Sunday Sounds.

Guilty pleasure: The Voice.

Today I'm highlighting my favorite songs from the coaches of the The Voice.

This was one of my favorite songs in high school. I literally played Songs about Jane until I wore out the cd. So hard to believe that was ten years ago!

Who doesn't like Usher? I mean...really... its Usher.

This is another high school era song [Nostalgia is now in full effect]

God Gave Me You- Blake Shelton
This song perfectly describes how I feel about E. Life without my love just wouldn't be the same.

I know this is technically not a Christina song, but it features her and I ran with that. At some point in life you can relate to this song. It is the perfect blend of soft, powerful and beautiful.

"I asked Blake, 'Dude, why didn't you tell me I got fat?' He said, 'It's not my job to tell you you're fat. It's my job to tell you you're beautiful."

Sunday Sounds.

1. I wanna get better- Bleachers
That voice. sigh.

Elvis was a huge staple in our house growing up. While this is not my favorite song by Elvis, it still stops me in my tracks and I find myself singing along.

Speaking of Elvis....one of my all time favorite songs is Walking in Memphis. I heard this song after my first visit to Memphis. I had one of the most beautiful and surreal feelings when I visited Graceland and this song brings me back. My favorite line: "there's a pretty little thing, waiting for the king, down in the jungle room"

5. Recover- Chvrches

"Rock and roll music, if you like it, if you feel it, you can't help but move to it. That's what happens to me. I can't help it."
-Elvis Presley

30.

Hi. My name is Melissa and I'm an addict. I love soda. Vanilla Root-beer and Dr.Pepper are my drink of choice. At my peak of soda drinking, I could easily breeze through 4-5 drinks a day. The closer that I creep toward thirty, the more I become aware of what I put into my body. I used to be very conscious of what I ate and drank and embarrassingly, I have fallen far from those days. I'm taking control of my life back and that starts with quitting soda. Okay, with that said.......
I am officially 30 days sober!
 [an entire month! eek!]
My body feels better. I have more energy. I drink more water and my body is screaming thank you!

I still have to tame my sweet tooth. (I have to fit into my wedding dress!)
I can't promise I will give up my good buddy chocolate for good... but it is time to cut back!

Georgia on my mind.

Longer days and warmer weather brings afternoon adventures for E and I. We love living so close to downtown. I have been keeping with my new year's resolution of taking less pictures with my iPhone. My Cannon power-shot has become my trusty companion, always near my side.

I love this man and this town.

Sunday Sounds.

1. Winter- Joshua Radin
There has only been a handful of shows that I was so sad to end and Scrubs is most defiantly at the top. The first time I heard this song was in the episode where Ben died and Dr.Cox cried. I was sobbing right along with him.

2. I Just Don't Think I'll ever get over you- Colin Hay
This song is in Garden State, which just so happens to be one of my very favorite movies. It is just one of those songs that hits something inside of me.

3.Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?- Arctic Monkeys

4.Magick- Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
Just one of those songs that is good for riding with the windows down and the volume up.

5.Blood Bank- Bon Iver

Penny Dreadful.

My mind is constantly in ADD mode. I have so many ideas/goals that go through my head.(I just bought a notebook to jot all of my ideas/goals in!) One of my goals is to read more. I've been struggling with a plan to make this happen. I always have a really hard time picking out books. I can literally walk in a book store, get overwhelmed with making the decision, and walk out empty handed. This afternoon I found inspiration for my next reading venture. Showtime has a new series, Penny Dreadful, coming out this May. It mixes 19th century British fiction stories (dubbed Penny Dreadfuls) and I am so excited to watch! I watched an interview with the creator, John Logan, and he listed three books that inspired him to create the series- I knew that very moment that they would be my new reading list! All are well known books that I have always had in that ADD mind of mine but never got around to. (until now)

Reading list inspired by the upcoming Showtime series Penny Dreadful
  • Dracula
  • Frankenstein
  • The Picture of Dorian Gray
I have the house to myself this evening-time to start reading!

lunch

Today I decided to bundle up and head out for a lunch adventure.

Even with the chilly weather my walk downtown was a nice one.
I look forward to warmer weather in the next few weeks and more adventures.

change.

Our first picture together
a few years later at the zoo.

Okay,so did I have to use the most unflattering picture I could find of myself? Yes! Yes, I did! We both weigh more than we ever have before and have finally reached the point where we have to do something about it.Being happy and comfortable in our relationship has led us to making poor decisions with what we put in our body and a tad on the lazy side. Lifestyle changes are in order.

Sunday Sounds.

1. Pink Floyd - Coming back to life

This is one of my favorite songs by Pink Floyd. Not only does it remind me of my past, the pain of begging for change, it is also a reminder of how I've changed my life. I went  from being stuck at the bottom to climbing to the top-yelling down and hearing the sound of a echo.

2. Nightwish - The Islander

3. Marilyn Manson - Man that you fear

4.  Jars of clay - Run in the night

5.  Flyleaf  Missing
